Home Another Way, by Christa Parrish

Christa Parrish’s book has blown me away. I set out to merely scan this book, but Christa expertly interweaves rich visual imagery for the setting and complex personalities for the characters; so that I was entranced into reading the whole book in a single day.

I forgot that these people were not real and I cried when Sarah cried, I felt frustrated when Sarah felt that way and I understood her because I could see myself in her. I think this is the success of Christa’s book- she poignantly wrote a girl that a part of every one of us can relate to or bring us to understand someone else in our life. We all know a Sarah… that difficult stranger that waltzes into your life and blows everyone off, yet feels as if she deserves the world.

“Then he’d remind himself, yet again, that God didn’t whack his children with a giant flyswatter each time they sinned. That was what grace was for.” Page 259

The ultimate lesson is that we are to show grace to all in our lives, even if we were burnt by them; just like God shows us grace even when we mess up. We all are a little bit like Sarah. That is why I will be recommending this book to every avid reader that I know. I think they will be enraptured by this book, like I was.
